Testing season
over 4 years ago – Fri, May 29, 2020 at 06:09:19 AM

Hello Kickstarters,

We hope that you are staying safe and healthy.

This is just a little update to tell you where we are at. We are right in the middle of our testing phase, and now have the results from the heavy testing we put our first 10 completed blenders through. As is common when you’re in the pilot phase of production, we’ve found some glitches that need addressing, but we are moving forward with the process and will soon be commencing our second testing phase. Once we are guaranteed that our blenders are as good as they can be, we’ll move onto production.

Here’s a little more detail on what has been happening.

We’ve been blending, blending, blending.

First off, we can confirm that the millo team has been eating a lot of smoothies. In fact, during our testing regime, we made 150 smoothies. As part of this process, we compared two blade types, and discovered that the curvier blades were better. They are so good, in fact, that you can even blend peanut butter with them - the biggest challenge for any blender. Naturally, we have chosen to go with the best blades, and they are being produced as I write. The full consignment will be with us in time for the commencement of mass production later in the year.

millo in the lab.

We took millo for 4 testing sessions at Lithuania’s leading Technical University - KTU. Getting a new device to market takes time, and a lot of iterations, so it came as no surprise to us that some technical glitches were discovered during testing. We have gone through some minor re-adjustments since the first testing session, and are happy to announce that we have successfully gone through this first professional testing phase.

some adjustments made and next steps

From the first lab tests, we were able to make some adjustments to the millo to improve performance, and get us to the second testing phase. We have ordered updated electronic parts and altered the way we house the batteries in the base. These new pieces will be shipped to us in the coming days, and we hope to finish pilot production in the next three weeks.  Once we have these units, we’ll be sending them out to our local customers to test, and also submitting 10 blenders for rigorous testing at a highly qualified certification laboratory in Germany.

That’s everything for now, but we’ll be updating you on any news as soon as we have it,

Until then, stay safe and stay happy,

The millo team

Hello Kickstarters,

We have an update for you.

We are happy to be able to finally announce that the first 10 units of our millo blender have been produced at our new EU based Lithuanian production line. After some delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we now have an initial run of 10 fully finished blenders. This is a major milestone in the company’s history.  These blenders, which are part of our pilot production, lay the groundwork for mass production to commence in the coming months.

Moving production to the EU for greater control and efficiency

After encountering some difficulties with foreign production facilities, we made the decision a while ago to move production to Lithuania in the E.U, where we are based. This has allowed us to more closely control the production process and guarantee the best results.  With tooling held up by the Coronavirus outbreak in China, and the ensuing restrictions imposed by EU quarantine measures, production has been slower than expected. But we are closing in on the finish line, with the commencement of pilot production this week.

Perfecting the product

We’ll be using the pilot production to test run the millo before we move to mass production. First off, we’ll be sending some of the blenders out for professional laboratory testing and certification. Meanwhile, we’ll also distribute some millos to local Lithuanians so that we can get an authentic test run of millo’s functionality. Having such close proximity to the testers will make it easy for us to fix any bugs quickly and make any final tweaks that might be needed.  It has always been our aim to produce a truly unique and innovative product that is best in class, and we’re proud that we are now finally on the home straight.

A Special Announcement.

We’ve just received notification that millo has won gold at the A’ Design Award. The A’ Design Award is an internationally recognised award that “aims to highlight the excellent qualifications of best designs, design concepts and design oriented products worldwide in all creative disciplines and industries.” We could not be happier that we’ve won an award for our design, which has always been one of the millo blender’s defining characteristics.

That’s everything for now, but we’ll be in touch soon with more exciting updates!

Stay safe and stay healthy,

The millo Team
